Washed White

Come now, let us argue it out, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be like snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. (Isaiah 1:18)

Imagine a beautiful white dress.

Now imagine the dress was burnt whilst ironing, then you spilled coffee and now it’s covered in stains. While walking outside you tripped over and fell face first into mud. Why is there mud? That’s not the point. The point is your beautiful dress is now a partial dress and not so beautiful.

The White Dress is our pure state. The way God originally designed us. Without stain or blemish. Perfection. But when sin comes into our life it is one stain after the other. One shortfall after another. One disappointment after another.

Is it possible to get the dress back to how it was? You know with some heavy duty bleach and a great washing machine. As a human, there’s no way. But through Christ, you better believe it is done.

Jesus Christ paid that heavy price to have your sins washed white. That dress is not only made clean BUT made new. Made perfect, redesigned, made whole, beautified and with a new purpose. It’s not just an everyday dress now, NO. Now it’s special. It’s for a special purpose and set aside by God FOR God.

Jesus bore our sins on the cross He carried. He carried our shame, hurt, pain, disappointments, failures, loneliness, sickness and all our suffering. He absorbed it within Himself so we could be free of it. He said “Let me take it, I can carry it. Give it to me and go. You are free. The price has been paid”.  The way we honour the price that was paid is by offering ourselves as a living sacrifice to God. By giving our lives to Him and choosing to live for Him, for the honour and glory of Him who is above everything. Who is the beginning and the end. The Alpha and Omega.

He is jealous for you, yes. But He offers us everything while we offer very little. I mean really, what do we bring to the table? God says “Just bring you. However you are packaged, whatever you’ve done, just bring you. I will heal you, fill you and give you joy”.

We must be in awe of a God with a love so vast, so boundless, so deep (it’s unheard of!) so beautiful that He would sacrifice everything just so we can be His and share in His kingdom as His children. So He can bless us and love us. So we can have life and have it more abundantly.

You have a heavenly Father who does not abandon or forsake you. Who wants you so much that He is always with you, waiting for you to acknowledge and welcome Him.

Just say Amen and praise the LORD who is GOOD and pure and just.
