Jesus was sacrificed for our sins. The son of God became man so men could become children of God. We can’t take this price for our sins lightly. We can’t allow ourselves to be separated from our Father because we make excuses for our sins. “It’s just a little lie” or “no one will ever find out”. Well God knows all and it is the innocent, sinless Christ we sin against.
We see in Matthew 4 that Jesus was tempted by Satan. Instead of giving in, He fought back with the sharp, living, breathing, double-edged sword that is the Word of God (The Bible). Even Satan attempted to lean on the Bible to misled Jesus but he did not have the Holy Spirit which means He did not have wisdom, understanding and knowledge! The Holy Spirit unlocks the mysteries of the Bible which Satan cannot know because it will not be given to Him by God because He does not belong to God. But you who belong to God, it will be given so seek to be filled with it!
The Holy Spirit allows us to identify what is and isn’t of God. It guides us, warns us and protect us. Christ was tempted but He never sinned. Why? Because He was completely focused on doing the Will of God and being obedient to Him.
When our eyes are set firmly on God, sin will have no power over us.
We must know the Word so we can fight back when Satan tries to attack our mind and our heart. We must capture those negative thoughts and feelings and knock them down with the Word of God. So pick up your Bible and ask God to fill you up with His Spirit.
Satan will tell you “God hates you”, or “you will never amount to anything” or “you are not forgiven”. Well no Satan, the Bible says that God’s love NEVER fails and that His grace is enough for me and that if I confess, He is faithful and just to forgive me. He tells me “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart” so I know He has a purpose for my life.
Don’t entertain negative thoughts. Don’t allow yourself to keep thinking on them. Just give it to God and say “God I know you love me. I trust you”.
Run back to the Father who gives life, who is FOR you and not against you, who thinks only good things about you and who throws your sins into the depths of sea, washes your sins white and does not remember them! Because that’s how much He loves you and how badly He wants you to be His. He says “the price has been paid just come to me and I will make you BRAND NEW”.
He is a good Father.
